since my engagement (07.18.10), i have been quite busy. i've booked a fab photographer, nailed down a venue, recruited a coordinator and stylist, bought an amazing dress, and most recently hired the best caterer. but fyi, i am definitely one of those. one of those typical girls who have been dreaming of her wedding since middle school. one of those girls who has kept a crazy wedding album since high school. one of those girls who has subscribed to every wedding blog even before meeting the FI. so if you haven't done anything, and you've been engaged for awhile, don't stress. i can honestly say that anyone can plan a wedding in less than a year. w/that said, this blog will be a place where i post all the wedding loveliness i see. some will have to do w/the specifics of my wedding, and some posts will be dedicated to things that i think are just rad.

before i go on, here are a few things i've learned/experienced since being engaged...

the good
  • the shiny, new diamond ring.
  • calling the bf, the fiance.
  • sharing the engagement story.
  • tastings, tastings, TASTINGS!
  • did i mention, the SHINY, DIAMOND RING?? =)
the bad/ugly
  • putting together a wedding is a LOT more than what you have ever imagined
  • a LOT of people want to give their two cents. you'll need to learn how to filter.
  • wedding blogs will/can stress you out, if not kill you. minimize your subscriptions. blogs also have a way of making you forget who you are. when this happens, stop, take a deep breath, and go back to what you and your FI have decided you wanted your wedding to be all about. if it has nothing to do w/individualized striped paper straws, then don't stress about having those at your wedding. just know what you want your wedding to be all about, and make decisions from there.
  • things will add up...QUICK. be smart.
  • you can't have EVERYTHING. you'll need to let go of some things, and it's okay. it's only one flippin' day. don't go broke, or in debt for one day.
  • a majority of the wedding vendors will go over your budget. if your budget is $1k, tell them it's $700. they'll still go over, but at least it's something you can work with.
here's to new beginnings! cheers!

and bc all posts are more fun w/pics, here some random wedding inspirations. enjoy!

we'll most likely be cruising in our e-session. cruising is one of our fave things to do.

talked to carlos the other day about possibly hanging a chandelier for our reception. he said it's very doable, and fairly easy. we want a very warm feel for the reception. say no to harsh lighting, and yes to a soft and glowing feel.

bought 6 wine barrels after seeing this beautiful bar setup. the stylist did all the pricing research and is currently holding the barrels for me. carlos said that he'll be able to create the bar for the reception. we will also have a water station using 2 barrels for cocktail hour, and the dessert bar will be displayed on the barrels as well. LOVE it.
